What is Listen & Spell?
Listen & Spell is the most direct way to practise: the game says the word aloud, your child types it, and presses Check. There is nothing to steer, shoot or collect, which makes it a good choice for a calm start to a practice session or for children who like to focus.
Children can hear the word again, or hear it used in a sentence, as many times as they like. When a word is missed, the correct spelling appears together with a short tip that explains the pattern behind it, so each mistake turns into a small lesson.
How to play
- Press Start so your device can play sound.
- Listen to the word, and to the sentence if you need it.
- Type the word and press Check (or the Enter key).
- If it's wrong, read the tip, then move on to the next word.

Who it suits
Every year level from Year 1 to Year 6. Best for children who are comfortable typing.

Listen & Spell questions
Does my child have to type?
Yes. Listen & Spell uses a keyboard. If your child prefers tapping letters, try Bubble Pop or Sheep Rescue instead.
Can they hear the word again?
Yes. There are buttons to replay the word and to hear it in a sentence. Slower voices are available in the sound settings.
How long is a round?
Free Practice rounds are 10 words. The Daily Challenge is 30 words and takes around ten minutes.
