8 of them: Listen & Spell, Bubble Pop, Snake Spell, Sheep Rescue, Melody Maker, the Royal Quest 3D adventure, and two live races, Swim Carnival and Maze Run. They all draw on the same word bank, so a word missed in one game comes back in the others.

Score 95% or more on the Daily Challenge to earn a bronze coin. Seven bronze coins make a silver, and seven silver make a gold. Coins are spent in the shop on hats and pets, pets grow the more you practise, and the hero in Royal Quest wears them.

Years 1 to 6, for children of about 6 to 12. Each learner has a class year, and every game draws from the word bank for that year. Learners can also play a higher year to stretch themselves, but not a lower one. Year numbers follow the Australian system, which lines up with US grades by number (Year 3 is about Grade 3, roughly ages 8 to 9). Children in England are about a year further along at the same age, so an English Year 4 child would usually start at our Year 3.

The word bank (1540 words) is our own selection, informed by the spelling progression in the Australian Curriculum v9.0 English content descriptions. It also includes 211 words from the statutory spelling lists in England's National Curriculum for Years 3 to 6. It is not aligned to any other country's curriculum or standards, such as US grade-level standards or Canadian provincial programs, although children of the same age will find Years 1 to 6 a fair level. ACARA publishes no official spelling word list, and this site is independent: it is not produced, reviewed or endorsed by ACARA, any education department or any other education authority.

Yes, in any English-speaking country. When you sign up you choose American English (color, center, organize) or British English (colour, centre, organise), the spelling used in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, India and most other places. Canada mixes the two, so pick whichever your school uses. Words and their example sentences are converted automatically, and the read-aloud voice matches the accent when your device has one. Spell Kingdom doesn't have separate country editions or country-specific curricula. A parent's own school word list is always used exactly as typed.

Every round is recorded. Words a child misses come up more often in later rounds, and words they get right three times in a row are collected as mastered on their My Words page.

When a word is missed, the game shows the correct spelling and a short tip about the pattern behind it, such as a suffix rule or a silent letter.

Yes. On the Family plan a parent can type in the school list; while it is switched on, the Daily Challenge and Free Practice use those words instead of the year library.

No. It is a practice tool to complement classroom teaching, and it isn't a diagnostic or a treatment for any learning difficulty.

There is an easy-read font (Atkinson Hyperlegible), slower voice speeds and a choice of voices. These are in the sound and reading settings.

An account name for logging in, a nickname (the only name other players see), a password (stored only as a one-way hash), a class year, and practice history such as words attempted and scores. We don't ask for a child's real name or email address. The privacy policy has the full list.

No. There are no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

No. There is no chat or messaging. In the live races and ranking boards, other players see a nickname only. Parents can switch live races off.

Yes. A parent account links to a learner and shows their practice days, accuracy, tricky words and coins, and lets you set daily play limits.

Yes. A parent can delete a learner's account and history from the family page, and download a copy of it first. See the privacy policy for detail.

There is a free plan that includes the Daily Challenge, most of the games and the first Royal Quest chapter. The paid Family plan adds more learners, every game and chapter, and school word lists.

Yes. A parent account can start a 14-day Family trial with no payment details.

No. Coins are earned by practising, and can only be spent in the coin shop on hats and pets.

Any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone. It can also be added to a home screen like an app. The 3D Royal Quest adventure needs a device that supports WebGL.

Yes. Games and progress are stored online, so a connection is needed to play.

Words are read aloud using your device's own text-to-speech voices. Check the volume and that a voice is installed, and use the sound settings to pick a different voice.
